Annual Summer Trip
Each summer when the children are out of public school they look forward to the annual summer trip that combines travel, recreation and educational activities using the community as a classroom. The children, accompanied by their house parents and administrative staff, spend three nights and four days seeing new destinations, enjoying special recreational activities and visiting educational and historic sites in Texas.
A
typical summer trip might include staying at the KOA Campgrounds in San
Antonio with day trips to the Schlitterbahn Waterpark or Sea World.
Educational activities might include a visit to the State Capitol or
the IMAX Theater.
The annual trip makes it possible for children at the Harbor to experience many of the same activities that other children not requiring residential care are able to do during the summer when they are not in school.
