Q: How does Boys & Girls Harbor help families in crisis?
A: Boys & Girls Harbor provides food, clothing, shelter, counseling, health care, recreation, and most importantly, a stable family life.  Children at the Harbor, stay in cottages with full-time live-in, trained house parents.

Q: How long will Boys & Girls Harbor help my family?
A: A child can stay at Boys & Girls Harbor as long as services are needed.

Q: As a parent, does placing my child(ren) at Boys & Girls Harbor mean I am giving up my parental rights and/or custody?
A: Absolutely not!  Boys & Girls Harbor is dedicated to helping families in crisis and we encourage families to be reunited once the home or family situation has been resolved.

Q: If I voluntarily place my child(ren) at Boys & Girls Harbor can I visit my child and maintain communication with him/her?
A: Boys & Girls Harbor believes in families and works hard to maintain positive relationships between family members through visits and phone calls.

Q: Is there a limit to how many children from one family can be placed at Boys & Girls Harbor?
A: No.  Boys & Girls Harbor strives to keep sibling groups together and does not limit or cap the number of children from one family that needs our services.

Q: What is the difference between voluntarily placing my child at Boys & Girls Harbor versus my child being place there by CPS?
A: By voluntarily placing your child at Boys & Girls Harbor, you are asking for our help and support and we will direct you to the appropriate agencies that can help you improve your situation and bring your child home.  If your child is placed at Boys & Girls Harbor, there are guidelines that must be followed.

Q: How will Boys & Girls Harbor help my child continue his/her education?
Your child has the option of attending a LaPorte school, or can be enrolled in The Harbor Academy, located on our campus, for more individualized instruction.

Q: How much does it cost to place my child at Boys & Girls Harbor?
A: There is no fee for services if you place your child at Boys & Girls Harbor

Q: I don't have transportation, how can I get my child to Boys & Girls Harbor?
A: Boys & Girls Harbor can arrange transportation to bring your child or children to our campus.

Q: What are some of the programs and activities offered at Boys & Girls Harbor?
A: Boys & Girls Harbor has a brand-new student learning center, a gymnasium, a farm and various athletic programs
